ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Friday signed the twenty eighth Modification Invoice 2017 extending army courts for an additional two years.
The invoice, following the President’s signature, is now an Act of Parliament. Underneath this Act, the period of the army courts has been prolonged for an additional two years, ranging from January 7, 2017.
The twenty eighth Modification Invoice was handed within the Senate on Tuesday after two-third majority votes got here in its favour. seventy eight votes favoured the invoice whereas three opposed it.
The invoice, now an Act of Parliament, would implement the regulation of proof in the course of the proceedings. Suspects must be delivered to courtroom inside 24 hours and can be entitled to have a lawyer of their selection.
On March 21, the twenty eighth Modification had been handed by the Nationwide Meeting when 255 NA members voted in favour whereas solely 4 voted towards it.
