An unemployed and indebted man in Jhelum ‘bought’ his new child son for Rs5,000, his spouse alleged on Wednesday.
In a grievance made to the Jhelum District Police Officer (DPO) on Wednesday, a lady named Sana Zubair said that she just lately gave start to a boy at an area hospital in Jhelum, following which her situation deteriorated and she or he was referred to a hospital in Rawalpindi.
She stated that upon her return from Rawalpindi, her husband, Zubair Akhtar, advised her that he had handed over the toddler to his sister’s landlord in return for Rs5,000.
When pressed to get the kid again, the husband began quarreling earlier than leaving the house, the spouse said.
The DPO directed the Civil Line police station’s station home officer to take speedy motion and recuperate the kid.
Instances of jobless and poverty-stricken mother and father trying to ‘sell’ their children for cash is just not unusual in Pakistan. Whereas Pakistan’s official unemployment fee is round six per cent, a personal analysis agency in November 2017 reported that as a lot as 49pc employable individuals are out of jobs within the nation.
