KABUL, Afghanistan — Armed insurgents stormed Kabul’s largest lodge on Saturday, setting off an explosion and sparking a fireplace, trapping an unknown variety of lodge friends inside, Afghan officers confirmed.
There was no info on the variety of casualties, because the armed attackers stored authorities at bay.
Army and civilian ambulances stood by on the scene, and helicopters circled overhead hours after the standoff first started round 9 p.m. native time.
“Our particular forces are getting into the constructing,” stated Gen. Afzal Aman, commander of the Kabul Garrison, an elite unit of police and troopers that’s answerable for safety within the capital, who was reached by cellphone on the scene. “The attackers are at one aspect of the constructing. There are visitors trapped of their rooms. We have no idea who’re the attackers. There might be two or three of them.”
