French President Emmanuel Macron says France will “do every thing” to assist protect Iraq’s unity and the popularity of the rights of Iraq’s Kurds by means of new negotiations.
Macron met Saturday in Paris with the prime minister of Iraq’s Kurdish area, Nechirvan Barzani, amid a political and army standoff between the self-dominated northern Kurdish area and Baghdad since an independence referendum for the area.
In a joint information convention with Macron, Barzani stated he’s “prepared to debate” with Baghdad and agrees on a shared management between Kurdish and Baghdadi authorities over Iraq’s borders with Turkey and Syria.
