Registers protest with Pakistani envoy; video claimed Bangladesh’s military ruler Ziaur Rahman announced independence

Bangladesh has sought an apology from Pakistan over the latter’s envoy in Dhaka posting a “deceptive” video on Fb that claimed that the nation’s founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was not the one who declared its independence in 1971.
The 14-minute video was posted on a Fb web page referred to as Pakistan Affairs, BBC Urdu reported.
It was claimed within the video that Bangladesh’s army ruler and subsequent president Ziaur Rahman, not Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, introduced Bangladesh’s independence.
It was additionally claimed that Sheikh Mujib didn’t need Bangladesh’s independence and solely sought autonomy for the Bengali-majority East Pakistan.

Bangladesh Overseas Ministry Secretary (Bilateral and Consular) Kamrul Ahsan summoned Pakistani Excessive Commissioner Rafiuzzaman Siddiqui on Tuesday to register the nation’s protest.
The Bangladesh Overseas Workplace issued a press release that the Pakistani envoy to Dhaka was handed over a “strongly worded protest observe” warning that repeated breaches of diplomatic norms by Pakistan would solely hurt bilateral relations, Hindustan Times reported.

Ahsan stated Siddiqui “apologised” and stated the incident was “unintentional”.
